ARTIST PROFILE – Tiffany Forster

I am primarily a pastel painter drawn to the way light transforms a subject. I strive to capture either a mood or a sense of place in my paintings and enjoy trying to simplify my subjects and extract their essence by suggestion rather than fine detail.

Currently I reside beachside in WA but lived in Ensay for several years and my heart still belongs to the high country. Many of my current works are still based on my experience of the mountains and rivers around Swifts Creek.

Painting en plein air keeps me inspired and in tune with the seasons, but in the studio birds and flowers are what I am most compelled to paint. There is so much beauty in the natural world, and painting is a very personal way of experiencing and expressing that.
