ARTIST PROFILE – Lilli Antonoff

I work in a variety of mediums including wood block printing, weaving and currently focus more deeply on fiber and textile arts.

My work consists of reusing and recycling fabric which is torn into strips and woven to create Sakiori scarves in the Japanese tradition.

Sometimes I make memorial objects using favorited pieces of clothing or fabric from a collection or family setting. The significance of the material used, and added writing on the fabric can add extra layers of meaning to these pieces.

As I experiment with texture, form and colour, new shapes and objects emerge. Recently I worked on small, colourful crocheted bags while traveling and used found fabric to create a variety of styles. Each piece is unique and holds a different story.
