Cynthia Boyle was born in Michigan in the USA. She studied Design and Illustration in Detroit before migrating to Australia in 1969.
She has worked on many and varied art projects in her career including murals for McDonald's Broadmeadow NSW restaurant, batik wall hangings, glass tableware designs and illustrations for various clients.
From 1984, she worked as a lecturer in drawing, design and illustration at Newcastle College of Advanced Education, Hunter Institute of Higher Education and The University of Newcastle.
She has also exhibited her drawings and watercolour paintings in several solo exhibitions in Newcastle and Bairnsdale and in mixed exhibitions in Newcastle, Sydney and Victoria.
Cynthia works with layers of colour to create a sense of movement in her most recent acrylic paintings. Her first love is drawing followed closely by watercolour. Her acrylic paintings have a sense of the transparency inherent in watercolour. Design and composition are important aspects of her paintings. Storytelling is also important in her artwork.
